May 16 is Avon School Band Day in the Town of Avon

In light of their unprecedented success at the 2022 WGI World Championships, The Town of Avon honored Avon Bands with a proclamation at their May 12 council meeting.

They also proclaimed Monday, May 16, as Avon School Band Day in the Town of Avon. They've invited everyone to wear black and gold that day and to take a moment during the day to listen to music that brings joy.

Please join us in showing your Avon Schools spirit on Monday to honor our incredible students, teachers, directors, and musicians.

Here is the text of proclamation:

Proclamation

Whereas, in 2022, the Avon World Color Guard, Avon World Percussion Drumline, and Avon Indoor Winds topped their competitive fields by winning all three national titles in a single season, and

Whereas, Avon bands have amassed well over 50 Indiana State Championships along with the growing number of Bands of America and WGI (Winter Guard International) World Championships, and

Whereas, the Avon bands have shown continual success that requires a massive and continual team effort and collaboration from all involved, and

Whereas, the Avon bands perform and compete at the highest level available and strives to be the best in all they do while providing accountability and excellence for their performers, and

Whereas, the Avon bands gives every student a safe place to express their music through whatever ensemble they choose, and

Whereas, the Avon bands uses music to connect the community, form bonds of friendship, and achieve a deeper foundation of what Avon Indiana is,

Now, therefore, the Town Council of Avon does hereby proclaim May 16th, 2022

in the Town of Avon, and we urge all citizens to honor this day in recognition of all the students, teachers, directors, and
musicians, to wear black and gold, the official colors of Avon Schools, And 

Further, we urge all citizens to take a moment in your day, stop, and listen to a song that brings you joy.
