Celebrate Black & Gold Day in Avon

The Avon Town Council has declared Friday, December 15, Black and Gold Day in honor of Avon High School's 2023 National Blue Ribbon School award and the Avon Marching Black & Gold's fourth Bands of America Grand National Championship.

This is a community-wide celebration. Be sure to wear your black and gold and join us. 

It's wonderful to have such enthusiastic support from the Avon-Washington Township community. We are Avon. We are One!

Proclamation of the Town of Avon

Black & Gold Day Proclamation

Whereas, the Town of Avon recognizes participation in high school academic and artistic programming and competition creates opportunities for students to develop as leaders and experience personal growth; and

Whereas, the Avon Community School Corporation has built and sustained nationally recognized education and music programs that have enriched and distinguished our community; and

Whereas, the mission of the Avon Community School Corporation, ‘ALL Belong, Learn, and Grow’, is embodied in the high level of academic achievement and artistic excellence demonstrated by the students, educators, and staff at Avon High School; and

Whereas, Avon High School earned the honor of being named a 2023 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education for high academic achievement, the only public high school in the state of Indiana to achieve this honor in 2023; and

Whereas, the Avon High School Marching Black and Gold won an unparalleled 16th Indiana State School Music Association State Championship and fourth Bands of America Grand National Championship during the fall 2023 marching band season; and 

Whereas, the Avon Town Council wishes to recognize the achievements of the Avon Community School Corporation;

Now, therefore, the Town Council of Avon does hereby proclaim

Friday, December 15th, 2023 as Black & Gold Day

Proclaimed this 7th day of December in the year 2023 by the Town Council of Avon.
