Each November, we dedicate an episode of the Orioles In-The-Know podcast to one simple question, “What are you grateful for?” During the e-learning day earlier this month, we spoke with River Birch Elementary, Avon Intermediate School West, Avon Middle School North, and Avon High School teachers, administrators, and support staff about what they're grateful for.

Parent-Teacher Conferences a Success

Last spring, district leaders amended the 2023-24 school year calendar to include dedicated space and time for conferences to occur on two afternoons in September. We surveyed parents and educators about the experience and here is what they said.

Students in grades 1-6, would you like to perform at halftime of an Avon High School girls basketball game with students from the award-winning Avon Accents show choir? If so, you have until December 7 to register for the December 21 Show Choir Workshop.

The 2023 NOVA Run Club season begins soon! This year's club will be open to any ACSC student from first grade to eighth grade. Learn more and register today.

All Avon K-12 students have the opportunity to begin each day filled up and ready to learn. Our schools serve breakfast each morning for just $1.85.

Students have a special opportunity to support innovation, creativity, and excellence in our classrooms by participating in Hats Off to AEF Day. Students who bring a $1 donation can wear a hat to school.

ALL Stars

You nominated 61 staff members, a volunteer, a team, and a therapy dog — It's true! — who you feel embody our mission: ALL belong, learn, and grow. Thank you for taking the time to submit your nominations.

Parent-teacher conferences will take place for grades k-8 on September 28 and 29. Students will have school in the morning. During the afternoon, parents will attend conferences and students will complete e-learning assignments. Here are the details.

Each year, on the final few days of school, Avon High School seniors gown up and parade around the elementary schools they attended.

The Board, Superintendent Dr. Scott Wyndham, school and district administrators, and friends and family gathered to celebrate 19 men and women who are retiring from Avon Schools this year.

The Evening of Excellence is a celebration of the Avon High School graduating class featuring the top 25 students by academic rank. Each student honors two educators. Meet them all.

The substance abuse epidemic isn't only happening somewhere else or on the evening news. It is affecting young people in our community. Dr. Wyndham talks with substance abuse, mental wellness, and law enforcement experts about how we can protect and care for young people.

The American Legion honored two Maple Elementary School students for their achievements in Flag Education. They were honored at the February 13 American Legion meeting at Avon Post 145.
