Title 1

Beginning the 2017-2018 school year, Maple Elementary is a Schoolwide Title 1 building. Our Title 1 staff members are able to work with any student and will collaboratively work with teachers to provide small group, direct instruction in reading and math to meet the academic needs/skill deficits of students.

The Annual Parent Meeting in early fall will be offered at two different times to accommodate parent schedules.

Title 1 Teacher - Mrs. Kristy Lynch

Welcome!  My name is Kristy Lynch.  I am so excited to partner with you this year helping our children learn, grow, and succeed in the many challenges school presents them.  This is my first year as the Title 1 lead teacher, but my 19th year teaching, and I still love it!

My husband, Dave, and I have been married since 2007.  We have two beautiful daughters, Ava and Charlie.  Ava is a 7th grader at Avon Middle School South, and Charlie is a 4th grader at Cedar Elementary.  We have 1 dog named Keady Gene after the great Gene Keady (Purdue basketball coach).  We are Boilermakers through and through!

I graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Elementary Education and a minor in Reading Education from Purdue University in 2003.  I earned my Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2009.  I am always looking for innovative ways to help children reach their potential!  Please reach out if you have questions or need additional resources.  I am happy to help.

Best regards,

Kristy Lynch

Parent Right-to-Know Information

Dear Parents and Guardians:

Maple Elementary is one of four Avon elementary schools that receives Federal Title I funds to assist students in meeting state achievement standards.  In accordance with the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, Section 1111(h)(6) PARTENTS’ RIGHT TO KNOW, you have the right to request and receive information in a timely manner regarding the professional qualifications of the classroom staff working with your child.

At any time, you may ask:

  • Whether the teacher met state qualifications and certification requirements for the grade level he/she is teaching,
  • If the teacher is teaching under emergency or temporary status in which Indiana qualifications and licensing criteria are waived,
  • The teacher’s baccalaureate degree major, graduate certification, and field of discipline, and
  • Whether the student is provided services by paraprofessionals, and if so, their qualifications
  • What undergraduate or graduate degrees the teacher hold, including graduate certificates and additional degrees, and major(s) or area(s) of concentration.

Last year Maple was identified as a Schoolwide Title 1 building. As a result of this identification, all students are eligible to receive Title 1 services.

At any time, a teacher that is not highly qualified has taught your student for four or more consecutive weeks, you will be notified by the school of this information.
We are committed to helping your child develop the academic knowledge and critical thinking he/she needs to succeed in school and beyond.  That commitment includes making sure that all of our teachers and instructional assistants meet applicable Indiana state requirements.

As principal of Maple, I am proud to have Mrs. Lynch supporting our students.  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at 544-6400.

Learning Resources

Our program is developed around a well-organized curriculum which is broad enough to meet the needs of all children, yet flexible enough to provide for individual differences. We endeavor to facilitate learning through meaningful experiences that offer success, foster confidence, and promote constant and continuous learning.

Language Arts (which includes Reading, Writing, Grammar, and Spelling), Math, Science, Health, Social Studies, Art, Music, and Physical Education.

Our curriculum is directly aligned to the Indiana State Standards. These standards describe what students should know and be able to do by the end of each grade level.  More information about Avon Community School Corporation's curriculum can be found here.

Maple Elementary offers a talented, experienced staff which strives to challenge each student to work to his/her potential every day. The staff also recognizes that education is a cooperative endeavor. It is our belief that the entire school program should be based on continuous planning and evaluation by administrators, teachers, and parents. We seek to promote a positive working relationship uniting home, school, and community in order to provide a complete learning environment for the child.
